Skin Cancer Awareness

We all love that gorgeous sun-kissed glow that comes from basking in the sunshine. But does the sunshine love us as much as we love it? Skin cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK with an average of 16,744 new cases diagnosed each year. But here’s the truth – skin cancer can be avoidable and preventable. We want to help spread awareness and share our top tips for taking care of your skin in the sun:

1. Wear An SPF

Apply your SPF with as much care as you apply your favourite TAN TRUTH tan – make sure you use plenty of lotion and apply liberally to ensure the whole area is covered. You wouldn’t stand for patchy tan, so don’t stand for patchy sun coverage!

2. Always Wear Protective Clothing In The Sun

While we all love getting our summer wardrobes out for the year and making the most of the sunshine, make sure your summer ‘fits include some protective clothing for hot, sunny days. The best way to keep your skin safe is to cover it.

3. Seek Shade During Peak Hours

When the sun appears we all want to make the most of it but try to avoid direct sun during peak hours. The sun’s rays can be so much harsher during the hours of 12pm–3pm so why not spend this time inside or chilling in the shade. Or, if you’re like us, you could use this time to grab an iced latte and go shopping!

4. Avoid Sunbeds

It’s 2023 and with so many amazing self-tan alternatives, why risk damage to your skin by using sunbeds?! TAN TRUTH has so many unreal tanning options, whether you like a natural, subtle glow or a deep bronze tan. Top tip: if you can’t be bothered with a regular tanning routine, find a local TAN TRUTH spray tanner – it’s a totally safe, easy alternative to sunbeds and your appointment won’t take much longer than your usual sunbed routine!
